The Never Ending Quest - Episode 43509

"Did he just actually shout 'Yeeha'?" Bond asks the others, not believing it. "Of ALL the television shows you aliens intercepted, he chose to become a fan of . . .of American Cowboy Westerns?"

"He has his quirks," the Doctor says neutrally, causing the TARDIS to dematerialize. "Could be worse. Besides, Westerns were some of the more . . . palpable items we'd intercepted over the decades from this planet. And be so VERY glad we didn't judge all of humanity when we intercepted the first transmission from your world. You remember it, right? The Olympic games which had been hosted by that one . . . chap named Adolph Hitler back in . . . "

Bond hides it well, but I can see him wince. The Nazi regime had been the first to have high enough technology to beam television signals that penetrated the ionosphere. Not exactly the ones you want to be Earth's representative to the universe at large, those monsters...

Well, not like we're lying to Bond. Just giving him enough to explain ourselves without overloading him, you see. Too much and . . . we'd be doing him no favors.

'Tis the simple truth that we'd used with James Bond here, leaving out broad details. We do reveal to him that we are indeed not of this Earth, but from another world entirely. No questions about parallel worlds are asked and no information about parallel worlds is given.

Magic? Well, while Mr. Bond here isn't exactly up on science fiction (thus why he fails to recognize the British scifi classic he's walking about in, the TARDIS), he's seen enough to mistake our magical powers for psionics. His world view had taken quiet a beating as it stands so why needlessly upset him more?

And given the rather . . . spacey behavior that Crichton displays from time to time, it's not much of a stretch . . .

Don't talk about how despite some of the rather diverse appearances to the contrary of some of the races present (those representatitive intelligent species from "Terra Prime") actually share a common root ancestory, Human Kind. A theory proven to be fact by the recent findings and observations by the Doctor and Companions before this latest batch of Validation Quests. No, don't mention that because it would only confuse the heck out of Bond. Great guy, Bond, but don't think he'd take too well to such outlandish stuff....

....

Besides, he WANTS to be fooled! Can feel he wants to believe that we're aliens, vice some kind of unexpected hallucination brought on by a nervous mental breakdown. He'd already dismissed being drugged. Went through some kind of mantra or some such, self check or some such, that proved to himself that his martini (which he raved about to Sigin) hadn't been spiked.

As for accepting our help and aid, he's more than glad for it! Almost deliriously relieved that this group he'd run into here (us) is on his and Earth's side! Was deadly convinced from what little he'd seen so far in the TARDIS that Earth (and HE) were hopelessly outclassed, otherwise. Walk over them in cleats, we could if we'd been inclined...

Accepted the line that we're here only to retrieve one of our friends from Drax (she'd fallen into the wrong company) . . .

Now, onto the next part.

There should be a skeleton crew up on the space station, but nothing that we cannot handle!

  1. But could you explain again just how we plan on getting this Miranda DeSilk from Drax's clutches? I ask the other Companions.
