An Unexpected Encounter

"Atalanta!" Astra exclaimed. "What are you doing here? Is this really your sword? Why would you leave it in that drawer? Did you know that it's just cursed me?"

"So many questions, my dear Astra. I'm afraid that I am working for the dragon now. When he learnt of your escape, he ordered me to recapture you. That drawer is where those of the dragon's servants who are off-duty leave their weapons. The drawer is supposed to be kept securely locked; someone will be in trouble. I just came down here to collect Hubert before beginning to search for you, and very conveniently you turned out to be here too. Now if you'll just hand over Hubert, I'll escort you to the dragon."

"And just why should I do any such thing?"

Hubert spoke up again. "Remember that I told you that I am capable of casting a wide range of curses? If you refuse to hand me over, then you really won't like what I will do to you next."

1. Reluctantly, Astra handed over Hubert to Atalanta.
2. In spite of the threat, Astra refused to hand over Hubert.
