Cursed by Hubert the Sword

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 4336

"Anyone who tries to steal me must be severely punished," said the sword. "But..." began Astra. Ignoring her, the sword went on: "My maker gave me the ability to cast a wide range of curses." Astra didn't like the sound of that at all. The sword continued: "A naked princess you are, and a naked princess you shall stay, for a year and a day. If you attempt to don any clothing before that time is up, it will burn against your skin like fire." Astra felt a momentary tingling sensation, which she knew was the sign of the curse taking effect.

Astra thought that seemed a very severe punishment. However, deciding that what was done was done, and that there was no hope of making the sword change its mind, she asked it instead: "How did you know that I am a princess?" (The footsteps that had been approaching from the next cave had conveniently turned and gone away again, so there was time for this conversation.) "Who else but a princess of Aqualaria would be crazy enough to explore these caves naked, unarmed and alone?" replied the sword. Before Astra could protest, the sword continued: "Besides, your appearance, especially the long red hair, gave you away. Even I, Hubert the sword, have heard of Princess Astra."

Astra had more questions she wanted to ask. Maybe Hubert knew the purpose of the mysterious rod, and why it had cooled when spoken to? First, though, perhaps she should discover who the sword's owner was. When she asked this question, Hubert answered:

  1. "I am sorry, but you have no right to know that."
  2. "You can find out for yourself in a moment, for I can hear his footsteps returning."
  3. "You can find out for yourself in a moment, for I can hear her footsteps returning."
