The Devil Strikes Up a Deal with Taka

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 42693

“What is my next task, Lord?” Taka says, submitting himself to the prince of the principalities of the air.

“I’m glad you’ve decided to be more cooperative,” the devil replies, reveling in the apparent ease of subduing another mortal to his will. “I can assure you that I will have a special place in Hell reserved just for you, where you’ll at least be spared the eternal misery of the lake of fire. Your next task is a simple one, really.” He pauses to light up a cigar before continuing. “There is an annoying simpleton who stands in the way of my plans, a sniveling little peasant named Geoffrey who lives in the slums of the King’s City. He is a man of flawless character, who spreads unprovoked acts of kindness and aid to the cursed masses. There are rumours floating about that he has supernatural powers to heal the injured and cure the sick. He’s beginning to develop a number of devout followers, who claim he is a prophet of God or some such rubbish. If this is allowed to go on, I will lose a great many souls that may have otherwise been mine. Kill him.”

Taka bows and agrees to the mission. As he makes ready to leave, Satan commands him to wait.

“Oh, and Taka,” he adds as an afterthought. “Don’t underestimate the man. I have complete faith in your abilities, but your stealth alone will not be enough. Here.” He hands Taka a jagged dagger wrought of pitch black steal, imbued with demonic power. “Use this. But mind you, don’t lose it! I’d needn’t remind you that your soul is mine now, so don’t try worming your way out of the agreement either.”

“Of course not, m’lord,” Taka submits graciously. “I will carry out your orders exactly as told.”

  1. Taka departs, taking the wicked blade with him.
