Mike in the Big City

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 42674

"Wow, mommy!" Roc said. "This is a really, really big city!"

"Yep." Mike said. "And we're going to a restaurant to grab some good chow real quick."

"Oh boy! Chow! Yummy yummy yummy!"

Mike smiled. It looked like everything was going to be allright.

"Mommy, why are we running?"

"Because, Roc, those mean, unreasonable people were trying to demand something called 'money' in exchange for the chow we ate. And since we don't have any of this crazy 'money', we're running away from those people, because they're crazy."

"But mommy couldn't we just fight them?"

"Yes, Roc. But Mommy doesn't know how to fight people without killing them. And if we killed all of them, we'd be in big, big trouble. That, and it would be wrong. Understand?"

"Yes, mommy, I think I understand."

Mike turned a corner and hid behind a garbage can. The mob of bloodthirsty restaurant employees ran by, waving their meat cleavers. Mike sighed in relief.

"That was close, mommy!"

"Sure was."

Mike looked around and saw something weird. A large furry middle-aged female goblin was pushing a bespectacled, middle-aged human female into a large iron cage.

"I understand that this is what you think is right, and I can't go against what you think is right." the woman was saying. "But ask yourself - does my sense of right and wrong contain gray areas, or what I call 'contact points' in your perception of your value system which could possibly be evaluated, perhaps brought to a point where you could accept what I call 'sociomorphization' - or the process whereby you not so much influence, or coerce, but help to integrate..."

"Shut up! I'm being paid a thousand klibongs for your hide, now get in the cage!"

Just what the hell was going on here?

  1. Interfere!
  2. Leave them be.
