Fred recognised the place from Astra's description. Standing not far away
he could see the version of himself with scissor hands, a look of fear on
his face. Whether this was because of Fred's own materialisation, or
because Astra was sprawled on the floor only a few feet away, he wasn't
sure.
Why had Atropos sent him to Astra's reality rather than to his own, Fred wondered. Could she have made a mistake? Or did Atropos want him to do something here before she would send him back to his home reality? And why had she given him the timepiece? Vincent was bent over Astra, checking for a pulse. Then he straightened up, his face grave. "I'm afraid she's dead," he told Fred Scissor-Hands.
