The Fallen Elf and Astra's Disappearance

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 4230

*THUNK*

The noise echoed loud and clear throughout the night sky. Fred peaked up from his hiding spot to find the elf lying flat on ground and Astra above him, holding the very same black stone Fred had thrown, it now covered in fresh, crimson, blood.

”On second thought, never mind the sharp stick” said Astra smoothly.

Fred rose from his hiding spot, impressed by this woman’s skill. While the attack may have seemed like a simply feat, few can say they’ve snuck up behind an elf for an attack and live to tell the story. It looks like she wasn’t called famous for nothing.

”You are obviously no rookie when it comes to battling elves” Fred said, now rising completely from his spot. To his surprise, Astra frowned at this statement. “You’d made that exact comment while we were in the dragon’s cave, but you now act as if you’re seeing them for the first time.

Astra bit her lip, and then said “So, you honestly don’t remember a thing about our past adventures?” Fred nodded. “Oh. I…I was hoping that your memory loss was only…temporary.” She then went silent.

Fred just stood there near the boulders, bewildered. He tried hard to recollect even the faintest memory of traveling with this woman, but he could find none. He couldn’t remember a thing between getting sucked under the water and arriving on the shore.

”Princess-” he started to say, but he was interrupted that that very person.

“You’d better tie up our attacker, Fred. There’s no telling how long he will stay unconscious.”

Fred nodded in agreement. While Astra mended the elf’s wounds, Fred walked back to the fire. Near there, he spotted a Mockernut Hickory. Using his sword and his survival skills, he cut off several branches and twisted them into strong, durable, Withes.

When he returned to the elf, Astra was nowhere in sight. Fred assumed she’d simply gone to gather more firewood or something close to that. He tied the elf’s arms and legs together so that the elf was curled up into a ball. This would prevent the elf from standing up. When that was done with, he moved the elf near the fire and waited upon Astra’s return.

Half an hour later, she still hadn't come back. Fred was now growing worrisome. Could she have gotten lost? Was she attacked by another enemy? As he continued to think these thoughts, a strange, hollow, feeling fell upon his stomach.

”I must do something.”

He double-checked that elf’s ropes were secure, made sure his sword was in its sheath, and then sped into the woods.

  1. Fortunately, Fred found her almost immediately.
  2. Hours later, Fred eventually located her.
  3. He searched throughout the night, but failed to find her.
