Remembering Irena's reaction when she had learnt that she (Astra) would be
going on the mission, Astra said: "Before you show me my room, could I ask
whether you have considered taking Irena to Irios with us? Going by my
brief conversation with her, it seems to me that she would be a definite
asset."
She had the satisfaction of seeing Irena smile and Turik scowl - only briefly, before he reassumed his usual pleasant demeanour, but a definite scowl. "I don't think that will be possible," he said brusquely. "Now come and see your room. I'll see you here tomorrow morning three hours before noon, Irena, for any last minute information that you might be able to give me." Turik led Astra into the inn, where the patrons looked at her with a mixture of curiosity and lust. She would have to do something about purchasing some more suitable clothing than her leotard before the shops closed for the day, she decided, even though it might mean that she would have to ask Turik for an advance. She followed her new employer through to the back of the main bar and dining room, where a narrow flight of stairs led up to the next floor. After climbing the stairs, they went a short distance along a passageway before Turik stopped in front of two adjacent doors. "Mine is the room on the left and yours is the one on the right," he told her. Astra looked through the open door into her room.
