Lord Fred nodded. “Missed a spot,” he said jokingly, bending down on one
knee to converse with the princess at eye level. She kept her head down
and simply ignored him. Fred gulped, humor had never been his forte -
perhaps he had over stepped his bounds there. “I was only kidding,
Princess. I beg your pardon, the floor looks absolutely wonderful.” She grunted and continued her furious labor. Fred frowned. “I hate to see you like this, Exotica. Such menial tasks are below someone like you...”“No! Leave me alone!” both Astra and Exotica yelled in unison. Astra rolled her eyes. “That’s about all you’re going to get out of her, Fred,” she explained. Reaibn, meanwhile, tapped a foot impatiently. “As I explained earlier,” he said, “she’s completely lost her wits since her father’s unfortunate demise. Now, we do have a tight schedule to keep. Come, come!”Fred sighed and followed the janitor down the corridor, not without one last glance back at the pitiful sight of Exotica scrubbing that floor. His heart was nearly broken. “Relax, Fred,” Astra whispered to him. “A little hard physical labor never did anyone wrong. Besides, it’s like they say, ‘cleanliness is next to godliness’. Right? By the way, nice haircut.”“Thanks,” he whispered back. After that the two were separated again and led to their respective rooms in the east tower. Reaibn insisted on speaking to each of them individually before the ceremony was underway.
