After Fred's cry of shock and despair, he and Astra stood in stunned
silence for a moment. Then Astra said: "It may be the Great Kingdom that's
under attack now, but no doubt Aqualaria will be next. We've got to stop
him."
"But how can we stop someone with so much magic power?" Fred asked. "You saw what he did to poor Sir Josh. He could probably do the same to us if he decided that it would be amusing. He's been toying with us. No doubt we were allowed to enter the pyramid. Even the D'eglon was probably under his control. Sacrificing a few guards to make a convincing show for us wouldn't have worried him." Astra rubbed the worst of Sir Josh's blood off her face with her hand. "We've got to do something, Fred. However hopeless it may seem, we can't just give up. We must find the dragon's master and kill him, or failing that find those who've been kidnapped and free them. Though how we could return them back home from here I've no idea. After all, we don't even know where 'here' is." "All right, we'll try," Fred said. "You're right that there's no alternative." "Let's have a hug before we go on," Astra said. "It will make us feel a bit better." So they hugged each other.
