Is this what they call a causality loop?

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 41297

Ravenmane

"We'll help," Fertal whispers, taking my hand (has to get up on a treestump to reach it, he's short) and stroking it, calms my distress (a little bit). "But we need you to win over your friend, so we'll have a better chance at putting her to right as well . . . if the enchantment also is effecting her as well."

Blast it, this just doesn't make SENSE!

Parts of my past are a clear as if they happened to me yesterday, but others . . . .

Goddess of horses, I hope that when Brighteyes comes around some light can be cast upon this situation, else I fear I might lose my mind! And that just won't do.

Goddess, I hope that my new friend (who feels more than a mere friend) Fertal and his friends can help, because I can feel myself sinking in the sands of fate!

Well, soon enough Azu Brighteyes is back amongst the living, as it were. Understandably, she's rather wary around these strangers, even with reassurances from Ravenmane. Still, at least the shamaness isn't trying to run off or cast warding spells (or whatever centaur shaman are in the wont of doing in pressure situations).

Well enough things go, right up until the point where Azu, trying to get her companion to explain more about what has happened, calls her "sister", and means it!

The similarities had been noted, at one level, by the Champions and other non-centaurs. However, in the rush of things it had just been put down as just some kind of side effect of the magicks that had transformed the two into their present forms. Or at least they'd hoped it had been that.

See, there's now a discrepancy that does two things. It gives more weight towards the tale that Synizn told Ravenmane about there having magical tamperings done to her mind. In her memories, while close, Azu Brighteyes had been a close friend but not a sister! But that's not what Azu's memories tell her!

It's just a case of what would have otherwise been a seamless coverup of old identities via magical meddling thrown askew by the unexpected! The cursed Transform Door's magic would have been able to compensate for the Two Girls Prophecy mandating that the former Fred and Belboz being female. Would have been able to account for the transformation in gender of male centaurs into female ones. However, it's the oddest thing.

Not only do odd things happen around Champions (who work for both Rules AND Agents), but one of those Champions just happens to be an analog of the transformed.....

Throw that all together and of course discrepencies creep in. It's basic magical theory that the Sage Sparta....

....

Nevermind. Forgot that you're probably not up on that stuff....

Bottom line, the memories of what Azu Brighteyes has are more true to what the Door would have had than what Ravenmane has. Trust me, it's easier to just do that instead of being told those rather . . . . dry theorems that the Sage put in his works on matters like this!

So, it's pretty easy to say that the stress just got kicked up a bit, and a lot of centaurs here about are rather befuddled and confused. At least the shamaness, after a quick prayer to the nature spirits (draws her power that way), confirms that there IS magic upon both her and her "sister". . . . so that's something. Still not exactly trusting, and until the spirits she contacted corrected her she'd initially thought that perhaps Ravenmane's new friends were the cause, but at least now she's not ready to attack (without weapons or no).

But, there's still one bit of a problem here, you see.

Some of the more rationalistic types of the Clan felt that there was an entirely too big of incidences of "gee whiz" incidents. You know, too much cooincidence. Too many loops closed.

Well, sorta like this. This is Terra Prime real estate. Happens that way here. Part and parcel of that magic stuff when it's high enough. Tends to bend normal outcomes of probability.

In this case, it accounts for far more casuality loops happening in relation to the Champions when they're off Questing and such. Seems that when the Rules and Agents sent them forth, a bit of time travel was involved.

  1. Basically, it's the proto-Dark Elves (for want of a better term right now for what happens next) who detect it first. The first . . .stirrings of what Eric Jones talked about back in episode 24895.
