Astra hefted one of the broken-off bedposts, demonstrating that it would make a useful club. "I suppose you're right," Fred said. "But will we need weapons? After all, we've been here for a week and seen no-one."

"It's best to be prepared for all eventualities. And hopefully we won't be confined in here for much longer. The note talked about us staying in here for a week. Once we come out we may need weapons. At least we've been able to get some vigorous exercise to keep us fit, in spite of the smallness of the room." She grinned at Fred.
