Amnesia

The alligators climbed over each other to get a good view. Velus and Senita found themselves suddenly alone.

A shadow suddenly flitted by them. "This way. Quickly, they will not be fooled for long!"

Velus and Senita followed the shadow to a crack in the rocks, where they could get out. Once out, they could see the shadow was Fred.

"Fred! You're not dead!" exclaimed Velus.

"Idiot! If course I'm dead. I had my brains chewed up by an alligator, for god sake! No, I came back. I've got me a dragon to slay! We'd better sleep in that wooden shed over there, it's getting dark."

That night, they sat around a small fire, Fred's outline just visible in the flickering firelight. Suddenly there was a noise outside.

"Stay here!" ordered Fred, running through the wall.

"I don't believe you told me your name?" said Senita.

"Velus."

Senita suddenly looked sad, or as sad as an alligator can. "Oh."

"What?"

"It's just... my fiancee was called Velus. Velus Spikir."

"But that's my name!" Velus exclaimed.

"What a coincidence. Where did you live?"

"In the village of Cinkiness."

Senita looked confused for a moment, then she snapped her jaws, hard. "You're him, aren't you?"

"Your fiancee? I would have remembered, surely... oh, hang on..." Velus said, as he suddenly began to vaugely remember being engaged to be married to a girl called Senita. "Yeah, I think I remember you..."

"You think you do? God, it was only two years ago!"

"Yeah, well, I had a lot of girlfriends after you disappeared. Am I supposed to remember every single one?"

"We were supposed to spend the rest of our lives together!" Setina said, her razor sharp teeth coming dangerously close to Velus's nose.

Fred suddenly floated through the wall. "Sorry, am I interrupting something?"
