In this hot climate, Fred and Astra knew that it was important not to get
dehydrated, so in the end they decided to (literally) take the plunge.
Fred was just about to jump, when Astra said: "Take your armour off first,
Fred, or you'll sink like a stone. Besides, wearing it in this hot and
humid climate must be very uncomfortable for you."
Reluctantly, Fred stripped down to his underwear, and then they both dived headfirst into the clear water of the lake from a height of about fifteen feet. Though the force of their dives took them about ten feet down, the water was easily deep enough to ensure that they came to no harm. After swimming back up to the surface, they slaked their thirst.
