Andrea hadn't expected Belboz to be coming with her and Fred, something
which made her even
more uneasy. In fact Belboz himself hadn't expected to be coming, until
Fred had said
to him over breakfast: "You are coming with us, aren't you,
Belboz?" in a tone
which made it clear that it would be unwise for him to refuse.
Now, as the warriors approached, Fred turned to Belboz and said: "I knew your abilities would come in useful. I'm sure you can summon up some ghostly or undead defenders for us." "At noon on a sunny day? You ask a lot of me, my Lord, but I will see what I can do." Belboz traced some sigils in the air with his hand, and chanted an incantation. The sunlight over an area centred on the three of them seemed to dim, and the temperature appeared to drop substantially. Andrea shivered. Suddenly they seemed to be surrounded by a mass of shadowy figures. Fortunately they were facing outwards, so Andrea could not see their faces under their hooded cloaks - if they had any faces, that is. The figures began to move, away from the three of them and towards their adversaries. For just a moment, it looked as though the opposing warriors might keep on coming, but then their nerve went, and they turned and ran. Many were screaming in terror, and some had cast down thir weapons. When none of the enemy were left in sight, Belboz made another gesture. The brightness of the day was restored and all was peaceful.
