Sigin in the Rain?

But then things start to become "interesting".

Have to wonder, sometimes, if my thoughts follow similar paths that my human sister's follows.

Maybe, we are "analogs" of each other (transformed or no). Still, now is hardly the time to turn to ask her.

The dragon standing in front of us (for that IS the species of the person in front of us, despite being in human form) might object.

No, we hadn't really planned on landing in this desolate stretch of forest. The sudden storm that came out of the blue did that change of plans, thanks! At first we'd been sure that this squal was due to hostile magicks directed OUR way by some mage or wyrm who'd lucked out in tracking us down! We'd been half right. The sudden shift in weather had been less than friendly and it had been magical. However, it was NOT due to conscious intent. Oh I'm aware that this place....

No, I'm still a little rattled from how close that lightning bolt had come in hitting OUR dragon mount! Do believe that my hair will be standing up on end for a week due to static electricity!

Yeah, right.

We had been flying along, risking detection but figuring that there wasn't much for it right now. We land and go back to normal means of travel, we'd be forced to do it by foot. The horses had been left behind, after all, and I do not think we elves (good as we are) can russle up enough wild deer to serve as mounts for our party. Especially given the nature of some!

We Dark Elves, Fertal and myself, have a way with the forest creatures. Comes with both a link and the knowledge patterns we inherited, you understand. But to believe that a wild animal as timid as deer will willingly serve as a mount for a dragon (mage or not) is asking much. The instinct to survive is strong in them, those fleet of footed creatures. The smell of dragon rings all sorts of warnings. Warnings that say that they happen to be so very delicious to your average dragon.

Probably much more so than I ever could be back in that human shell I now thank God I've cast off. Human beings, according to Dragon hearsay (none of the dragons ever partook) say that human virgin flesh was an . . . acquired taste.

....

Look, stop looking and chuckling under your breath. Only for love and only for my true love. Not going to preach over what I think about some other cultures' views. If you must know, yes I was and NO it's none of your business. Thanks for asking.

It's the way I chose, thanks.

And Fertal feels soooo good as the...

....

Nevermind.

Plan had been to fly for awhile. At least until we get within walking distance to some town we could buy horses (of course making sure, hopefully, to come from a different direction from where we land so not to alert any potential mobs that the landing dragons and passangers are us).

But now?

We get caught in the storm and actually get whipped around a bit (getting totally disoriented) before we realize we'd better land and land now before we CRASH land!

Soaking wet, the dragons come down hard (crashing harmlessly over some trees, knocking them aside with their massive bodies)....and come upon a strange sight.

Above the treeline, it's storming. Below? Not. No rain coming down through the ceiling of green.

Later, Synizn will realize that we'd come down in an area he'd been winging away from to avoid any possible contact with. This stretch of forest is called the Blighted Forest. No, it has not been struck barren, but it's accursed! Some who go in do not come out. Some who go in come out much older (or younger) . . . . or otherwise changed (in form or mind). Rumor says that a long time ago ancient magicians fought and died here and their magicks still linger...

Whatever the case, one of the lingering magics seems to have decreased the principle of lift, sort of. The last few yards we dropped we'd done so like rocks! Flap as our dragons might, they're not gettting any lift under the old scaley wings!!

Yep. Sounds like Atlantian magicks to me, but that's just a guess.

But meanwhile, we have guests! This is going to prove to be interesting!

A young dragon mage (off and on associate to the departed Malachi of this realm, we'll find out later) had heard rumors of this place and had come to study some of the more exotic effects, confident his magical prowess would be enough to win free if he need to force the issue. He's in human form, but I'd met another like him back on Terra Prime to know Sigin right off the bat! Or at least this appears (and smells) like that dragon mage. Sure do believe he's never met Synizn before (association with Malachi or not). See, this Sigin had been in this place longer than he knew. Had disappeared from the outside world long BEFORE Synizn and Malachi met....

But things get really interesting when a shimmering portal opens up out of thin air and two figures stumble forth. The pulsating, shifting forms grow in size and mass. At first, they appear to have been two young women, but they quickly assume the form of MALE centaurs (decked out in traditional centaur hunting gear, bow, arrrow, hunting knives and nothing else).

Behind them, right before the glowing passage closes I glimpse some kind of young, oily looking teen, who's laughing a very nasal (and annoying) laugh. Kind of laugh that makes you want to silence the owner with a few well placed slaps to the face, really....

Yeah, but as for the centaurs, they seem to have recovered somewhat...kinda....

"Uh, hello!" I say, smiling what I hope is a winning elfin smile!

  1. Needless to say, they're staring at both Sigin (who they detect something reptilian in his scent) and us (what with us riding dragons and all)....
