Double Puzzle

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 40128

"The big yellow blob must represent the surface, so presumably the blue blob indicates that we're at the third level down," Astra suggested.

"I suppose so, except that I didn't think that we'd come down so far as that. And I'd still like to know the reason why each blob has a white line in the shape of a squashed circle running through it. That must mean something, but I can't think what."

"Presumably the blue lines on the parchment side must represent the tunnels on the third, 'blue', level," Astra persisted, ignoring Fred's remarks. "The 'you are here' legend shows us as being near the end of a blue line, so we presumably need to head in the opposite direction if we are to get anywhere."

Astra had been saying "presumably" an awful lot, Fred noticed. That did not fill him with confidence. Supposing her presumptions were wrong? He looked around him, at the large "Cavern of Pu" in which they stood.

  1. "Well, there are only two exits from this cave, so I suppose the one we want must be the opposite one to that which we came in by."
  2. "But there are many exits from this cave, yet no intersections at our level are shown on the map at this point. It just doesn't fit in with what we can see."
  3. Using the code of barks that he and Fred had developed, Velus makes a suggestion.
