Once the men had gone, Fred ascended the ladder cautiously and opened the trapdoor. Once had had climbed out, however, he saw that he was not in the room he had entered. It was a reasonably large, flat open room with a number of bookshelves. A number of people are milling through the room. On one of the walls was mounted a sign that said "Barnes and Noble."

  1. Fred examines the bookshelf labeled "Mystery."
  2. Fred examines the bookshelf labeled "Nonfiction."
  3. Fred examines the bookshelf labeled "Sci-Fi and Fantasy."
  4. Fred examines the bookshelf labeled "History."
  5. Fred sees two people walking briskly by him, a large ogre and a child-size were-rat. He hears them muttering about Mendelboo.
  6. Fred sees a naked woman chained to the help desk.
