An Unexpected Development

We've run into so many opponents in such a short space of time that I wonder whether some Agent or other might be having some fun at our expense, even though the Agents are supposed to be on our side. So far the encounters have been annoying rather than truly dangerous, so I don't feel inclined to blame the Demons or the Angels.

"I think I'll live anyway, thank you very much," I say in response to the leader's words. Then I turn into my dragon form.

The gang appear suitably terrified, but I'm taken by surprise what their leader says next: "You must be Moreau! A thousand apologies for not recognising you in your human form, my lady, but I wasn't able to get a reliable description of you. But this is a very fortunate meeting, for I have a proposition for you that could be to our mutual advantage."

Naturally I don't apprise the leader of his error. I'm too intrigued and want to find out what this is about. Presumably Moreau is the only female dragon that they've heard of in these parts, so his mistake is natural enough.

Sensing that my husband has been awakened by the noise, as I'd expected, I telepathically ask him to stay back out of sight and to ensure that the others do the same. I don't want the man to be frightened away before I can find out anything.
