You shrug. "Search me. He was saying that he was a snake just now, so I guess that this is an improvement."

"I think I prefered it when he had his clothes on. He's not a pretty sight."

"I've never seen rats as big as dogs before," you observe.

"These aren't ordinary rats, but Rat-Beasts. As well as being very big, they are also highly intelligent. They've just been in a battle with the Arcs."

"You mean orcs," you say.

"No, Arcs. Totally different. The Arcs work for the Dragon, so I'm hoping to get the Rat-Beasts to help us in our quest to slay him."

"Er, your quest," you say. "I don't know what I'm doing here really."

Astra says: "Whatever."

1. Then she returns to her negotiations with the Rat-Beasts, though rather hampered by Fred's loud singing.
2. Fred manages to squirm out of your grasp and runs off. Presumably he intends to warn the Dragon of the danger.
3. Fred reaches the seventh verse of "The Wizard's Staff".
