Dref When Dref was born, everyone knew that there was something wrong with the child, although it couldn't be explained. Perhaps it was how furious he seemed the second he came out of his mother's womb. Perhaps it was his dark, blackish, eyes which always had a line of red vain behind them. Perhaps it was how he loved sitting in the silent darkness alone. Despite this, he'd never hurt in his young years, but he was without a doubt, an oddball. The rarely came outside during the day, yet he lived for going out at night (This earned him the nickname "Count Dref" from the other kids). While the other kids played tag and dueled with wooded swords, he was always fascinated by abstract things, such as darkness, time, sorrow, revenge, etc. At the age of 6, he stole a spell book from the wagon of a passing necromancer titled The Darkness of Life. That night, from that very book, he cast his first spell. A terrifyingly dark spell. The spell should have killed him. The average Necromancer would have fainted from using that spell like he had, but he somehow survived, but not without sacrifice. He was in a coma for a year. Everyday for that year, his mind fought for survival, and everyday for that year, he had nightmares that tormented beyond insanity. But he fought them, and won. When he awoke, he had great ambitions, or should I say, dark ambitions. But things were not going the way that he wanted. Once his parent’s found out what he had gotten into, they knew he was no longer safe to be free. After he had woken up, he was forced to stay in one room in the house and when outside, on a lease-like item. Months later, the parents reported that a necromancer was going to come over today to cause Dref’s magic to vanish, so that he may never use it again. Dref was horrified. With his magic, there’d be no point for him to go on. Magic was his only friend, the only thing he cared for. I wouldn’t even be writing this if it wasn’t for one who pitied him. That night, hours before Dref’s magic would become vanished, Fred lock-picked the door (He had just learned it the day before). In their, he and his brother switched clothing, so when the mage came in, Fred was the one who had his magic vanished while his brother escaped. Using the time he had, Dref fled into the woods. Eventually, scouts hired by his parents caught up to him. When they did this, Dref just smiled. He gently closed his eyes, clutched his hands firmly together, and then began muttering an incarnation. Before the scouts had time to react, a large flame began to surround him. He began to scream the words now, and in about a minute’s time, he vanished in mid-air.the scouts were baffled. After the shock, all of the agreed he must have done a fire spell wrong and burned his body beyond ashes. But they were wrong.Dref grinned at Fred’s bewildered look. “Did you miss me, brother?” Dref had change in many ways, yet he still looked familiar to Fred. He was now about Fred’s height, maybe a tad taller. He black robes with red lining he dawned matched the colors of his hair and eyes. The grinning smooth, pale, face didn’t have one prick of facial hair, and it continued grinning as it stared at the confused Fred. ”I can explain everything Fred, but first, we must do something about this noise. Dref holds up his hands and begins muttering what sounds like a mermish-poem. Before Fred’s eyes, everything around him began to freeze, as if they were glazed in ice. Along with movement, the sound vanished from the air. Fred stared. The people and things that weren’t affected by the spell were his and his long lost brother.
