The Never Ending Quest - Episode 3962

It is a horror.

All the men who had taken up arms against the were-beasts are defeated. Many are killed. Many more are turned into dumb beasts.

Over the days the entire populace of the Great Kingdom is forced out of their homes. Places where families have lived for hundreds of years are evacuated. Many grieving women and children are marched past the spots where their men died. No one had bothered to bury them.

It is a time of great distress for Lord Fred. He travels around the land, making sure the people get to symapthetic countries. It is not easy. He is forced to kill three centaurs who decided it would be more fun to 'romp' with two teenaged lasses then send them across the border.
A rogue elf nearly kills Fred himself when he prevents him, the elf, from burning down a sacred church.

Weeks pass. News of the Great Kingdom's new status reaches the magical creatures of other lands. New species Fred did not even know exsist move in. Things do not go well. A group attempts to set up a goverment. Political infighting breaks out. A race of golems is elected as a police force. The captain is found dead days later. A legal system is created and is soon swamped by property disputes, tax cases, library fines and who owns what riches that were extraced from the Dungeon Of Creeping Horrors.

One hard day Lord Fred awakens in the bell tower of the small farming village Questnis. It was an important village, one that provided all the food for the King's castle. And now the crops were rotting on the vines. Not enough people willing to harvest when they could just pluck and eat when they got hungry.
Alicia sat across from him, gently snoring. He vaguely remembered climbing up here after the Questnis Inn turned him away. (He had heard the sounds of 'adult activity' coming from a ballroom which once hosted diplomatic dinners).

Lord Fred despairs. His land had come to this. All because of a mysterious stranger's call to war. Where was that stranger now?
The were-man stood, a serious expression on his face. He would do something about this terrible condition. Something signifigant. Something noble. Something worthy of his stature and his calling. Not because it would inspire bards to create poems. Not because he would be honored for centuries. No, because it was the right thing to do.

  1. Lord resolves to...
  2. Lord Fred resolves to hunt down the man who started it all.
  3. Lord Fred resolves to take back the lands from the non-humans.
  4. Lord Fred resolves to organize the were-humans so this new society will not self-destruct.
