A Sisterly Embrace

When Missy eventually released Sam, she (Missy) explained to the boy: "Thomas, you remember me telling you about my little sister Astra? Well, this is her. You could hardly call her little now, of course, but she was only fourteen when I ran away from home."

"Pleased to meet you, Auntie Astra," the boy said politely.

So that was her real name, "Sam" thought. It did sound somehow familiar. "So what have you been doing since I saw you last?" she asked Missy, hoping in the process to find out more about her own background.

Missy grinned. "Well, when I ran away from home ten years ago, as I couldn't stand having to give up my tomboy ways because of being heir to the throne, after a year or so I finished up in this region. Then I met Don, and fell in love with him, and I've been a farmer's wife ever since."

Missy was a princess? Then "Missy" must surely be a nickname? Astra couldn't imagine a Princess Missy. Wait a moment! If her sister was a princess, then she must be one too!

Before Astra could speculate any further, Missy asked her:

1. "So how are things back in Aqualaria? Has Mom gotten over me running away yet?"
2. "So how did you find me?"
3. "So how come you're so shabbily dressed? And with no shoes! You haven't run away as well, have you? You're what, twenty-four now, so you're a little old for that."
