Finding no one in Belboz's liar, the trio of skeletons immediately left,
setting out in search of beings (human, or possibly otherwise) to fulfill
the dictate their master had given them. If the skeletons had thought about it, they would have realized that the best way that they could obey Crucius's command was to find a way out of the caves and back to the civilized world. But bespelled as they were, of course, they skeletons had no capacity for rational thought, or reasoning - only blind obedience. So they left Belboz's cave and began walking. As creatures of magic, of course, they had no need to eat or rest, no voice with which to speak or plan, no desire to stop or turn around. They merely kept walking. Not anywhere in particular, just - walking. Constantly. They spent many long months, wandering the maze of caverns beneath the southern mountains. Crucius spent much of that time cursing and ranting, trying to magically locate his "brides", but to no avail. Finally, though, after long days and nights of tireless wandering, the three finally ran across:
