Fred jumps back in horror. The dragon stares at him with blank eyes like
pools of deepest blackness. Its red, green, and pale yellow back is
arched. Its tail is awkwardly curled behind it. It sits poised ready to
strike.
Fred, however, strikes first. With his mighty sword, he cleaves the
dragon's great skull in two. "Wow!" thinks Fred. "That was sure easier
than I thought." In the lantern light he examines the dragon's carcass.
Oddly enough the skull is hollow and the dragon's skin resembles stiffened
paper and its scales softer paper and paper streamers. Fred remembers that
dragon bones and scales and flesh are valuable to necromancers. He
carefully lifts up the dragon only to find it much lighter than what
he expected.
"This is very strange indeed," Fred thinks. He sits down with the dead
dragon on his lap. Fred wonders if the creature he just slew could just be
a hollow paper dummy.
