"Must kill son!" screams the apparation. It slammed a fist down, missing both of them by inches. Fred ran to the left. Whatever was going on, he was mobile and his cousin was not.
The fist came at him and Fred swung his sword. It struck the wedding ring.

  1. The apparation is defeated and Fred turns to his cousin.
  2. The curse is lifted. It is his mother.
  3. Another five hundred foot lady shows up; the twin to this one.
  4. Fred remembers a calming spell he once heard for his mom's 'fits'.
