Fred flung open the first unlocked door he could find and leapt inside
the tall house. Swinging the door shut, he pressed his eye to the spyhole
to view the street outside. He saw the blacksmith, red-faced and panting,
stagger past the door and onwards down the street, occasionally glancing
left and right. 'Phew!' thought Fred, resting his head against
the wooden door.
"You look like a man who's done a bad thing." whispered a sultry voice behind Fred. He spun around, hand instinctively reaching for his sword. Then he stopped. Before him stood a tall, busty, blonde-haired woman with her hands on her hips. She had rather a lot of makeup on, and her eyes seemed tired and careworn somehow, but her smile was dazzling. She walked toward Fred without fear or inhibition. "Well." said Fred. "I'd say busting a blacksmith's window because he told me to get a job which given that I have no money at all is in fact an extraordinarily apposite idea isn't exactly what I would call a good thing, so yes, you are adroit in your assessment of my situation, m'lady. Now if you'll excuse me......" As Fred went to open the brothel door, the woman's hand slid across his arm, imploring him wordlessly to stop. "What's the hurry, honey?" she purred, reaching up to Fred's shoulders and spinning him back to face her. "It's been a slow day, and Daphina has her needs. Maybe......we can make a deal, mister.....?" She pressed her body against his, nearly flattening him between her and the door. "F....Fur......Fred. Erick D'honaire" mumbled Fred, his ingrained chivalry seriously stymieing any charm he might have otherwise mustered under less proximate conditions. Daphina flashed her perfect teeth once more. "Good to meet you, Fred Erick. Now, why don't we get better acquainted, and then we can make that deal?"
