an Axe to Grind

Now, this wasn't the kind of zombie that slowly shambled and had no brains, not at all - this was not the kind of zombie so stupid it would butt its head against a door until its ears fell off, either. This was fast, could be smart, and seemed to instinctively grab objects and swing them - in this case the midget zombie had found and axe and was really intent on swinging it into doggy Velus.

Velus reached Fred - he didn't even notice tiny Astra - and just kept on running. The zombie reached Fred and tiny Astra and then slowed - it noticed them, though exactly how is a mystery as their eyeballs are dead and their nostrils are dead so how do they notice the things they do?

"Run!" said Fred once he realized that the axe-wielding midget zombie was not just going to mindlessly chase after Velus. And then he ran, even forgetting Astra, she was tiny after all. Apparently the zombie didn't care for Astra - or maybe she was just too small to register on whatever undead sensory perceptors it had - the zombie now chased after Fred.

Astra, left all alone, pondered the Hespan writing on the bottle. She had almost reached a decision as to whether she would risk drinking it when a huge shadow came over her, looking up she saw a big foot come down upon her! SQUASH!!! Astra was dead! The killer wiped the bloody shoe on the wall and then stepped into a ball of light and promptly disappeared.

2. Follow Fred, Velus, and the midget axe-wielding zombie!
