The reason why the dead body was shiny and glittering was that it was
encased in a huge block of ice. How had it come there in the short time
that she had been away from the room? And without making enough noise for
her to hear from down below as well.
Astra tried pushing the great block, but as she had suspected it was too heavy for her to move. It must weigh many hundred pounds. New mysteries seemed to be arriving much faster than Astra was comfortable with: the strangeness of this place, how she had come here, the note, the diary entry, the tentacle, and now this. She examined the dead body through the transparent ice, which given how cold the room was naturally showed no sign of melting.
