The Talking Rod

Somewhat taken aback, Astrta said, "Oh! I didn't think you could talk."

"Then why did you say hello to me?"

"Just my gut instinct, I guess. Always serves me well. Even with talking rods. So what are you?"

"I am a talking rod."

"I mean... What do you do?"

"I perform my function."

Astra was getting annoyed... "What is your function?" she asked.

The rod replied...

1. "I am an alarm system. The dragon has been notified of your intrusion."
2. "I have all sorts of magic. My wish is your command."
