The three days passed very slowly for Fred, but at last they were over.
The cell door was unlocked, and a sailor escorted Fred and Robert up onto
the deck. There, once their eyes adjusted to the unaccustomed sunlight
after three days in the dark cells, they saw that Astra and Alexis were
already waiting.
Fred looked around him. The ship was at anchor in Collinsport harbour.
The ship's boat was being made ready to take the four of them ashore,
under guard. There they would be turned over to the police.
And so it was.

Fred was quickly able to convince the police that he was Lord Frederigo D'Honaire, that Robert was a dangerous criminal who should be kept in custody, but that Astra and Alexis should be released.

Relations between Allaria and Aqualaria were currently frosty. Fred was angry that the police insisted on taking Astra and Alexis into custody.

All four of them were locked in the cells, since the police did not believe that Fred was who he said he was.

Robert convinced the police that he himself was an upstanding citizen who should be released at once, whilst Fred, Astra and Alexis were dangerously insane and should be kept locked up.
