"I can see how that would be a problem," Fred says, trying not to flush
with the embarrassment that he is feeling. "Wouldn't the best thing be for
you to slip over the side of the boat and then take down your pants only
when you are under the water? Robert won't see anything then. There's no
risk of your getting left behind by the boat; we aren't moving fast enough
for that."
"But then my pants will get soaked by the seawater," Astra objects. "Once they dry they will be horrible, all caked with salt. And they might shrink or the colour might run; they are only supposed to be dry cleaned."
