"Now that is eerie," Astra conceded. "So's the fact that both the
road and my car seem to have vanished. But the light's starting to fade,
so I don't think that it will be any use trying to find them now. We'll
have to wait till the morning."
"Let's go a bit further in again and try to get some sleep," Fred suggested. "There's too much of a cold wind right here by the entrance." Astra agreed to this. They went back to a point near to the strange rock formation in the shape of a man. They drank some of the water that was dripping from the ceiling, for by now their throats were dry enough that they were willing to take the slight risk that it was polluted. Then they selected what appeared to be a reasonably dry area, Astra shut off her flashlight to preserve its battery, and eventually they managed to get to sleep. When they awoke:
