Promises Kept and Situations Examined....

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 36704

Dragon Synizn

Yes, our native Synizn is VERY surprised at this turn of events!

"Now," I say softly to my now youthened brother. "I did say I was going to cure you of your lycanthropy and return you to dragon, but you're probably wondering why this? And just how I did it, perhaps?"

"Meep?" he says again, then looks annoyed and scratches at his throat.

Can smell that he's afraid of me, I guess because I seem to be able to control the Crystalllic with such ease (while I fear from implication he'd been so clumsy with it, by the looks of things). Yep, afriad but he's annoyed all the same with the lack of voice...

Yep, at that age I wasn't able to speak either since the voice box hadn't matured enough, yet. I as a dragon can understand this infant, but beyond that I fear the others are left out

Don't even ask me how long it'll be before nature allows our little one to be able to cast spells of any substance (or any period, most likely) and take on a human seeming! He's VERY far away from his 500th year (and entry into the realm of Wyrms), now!

Which makes him, all two foot nothing, so much more reasonable.

"Alright," I say. "Now, as promised you are a dragon again. But I needed to be VERY careful or else we'll have a problem, eh? I don't smell enough treasure around here to even BEGIN a decent Dragon Hoard for your old age category."

Too little Hoard treasure and the native here would have gone into a frenzy trying to fulfill his need, there...

"Meep!" the dragonet mutters, looking annoyed that I could even think so little of him. Of course he has it nearby, just spell cloaked so thieves couldn't get to it.

Good! At least it tells me he knows more than that fool Minestus on one of those prior Validation Quests Jarlath's group went upon! That dragon on that world wasn't aware of how closely Hoard and Life are linked in Dragons!

Will be able to return him to his old, dragon self here soon enough IF I decide he's worthy. He has much to explain about these "prisoners" I've yet, analog link or not. If he's not worthy.....well, I'll leave him cured of lycanthropy but I doubt he'll like living out his days in the form I'll leave him in. Nothing bad, really, just I.....

Sigh. Nothing against you humans but it's this. I like being a dragon and want to remain one (just as at the bottom of it all MOST humans like remaining human). He's the same way, I know. He'll adjust (gut instinct), but I doubt he'd volunteer to become a human willingly...

That and he'll be safe enough in returning. In several parallel Terra realities, by Council of Wyrm decree, once the blood of a dragon is "tainted" with lycanthropy, the victim ceases to be a Person, instead being relegated to the non-People (an old, rather bigoted Dragon term for non-Dragons, sorry). Should a non-Dragon attempt to desecrate the blood by assuming a form of a dragon. . . . Would earn a slow and painful death (which is why several of my brothers chose to become demifoxes instead of dragons again).

So, with a few truth spells (little fellow cannot resist....too young to have the ability), I begin to ask a few pointed questions!

Somewhat glazed eyed, the dragonet answers each question. Wish I didn't have to DO this, but . . . .I need answers and he'll understand, really. He'd do it to me if the situation was reversed. It's the way Dragons (and a few human mages I could mention) do business in dangerous situations....

I find out that he has no idea on what a "Council of Wyrms" is! Lucky dog! Looks like events on this world fell apart back in Atlantis before the Dragons panicked enough to form that body to pull Dragonkind together (and would later become corrupted after the Invaders fell).

As for the demifoxes (yes, they are this world's Fred and Astra, alas), he tells me that after he'd failed (reasons he can't figure out) to return Fred to human (despite all these awkward and nearly, by Terra Prime mage standards, obsolete)....

....

Ah, guess that the forced "evolution" the Atlantians caused on Dragon magery (amongst other things) strikes a telling blow in a lack here. Oh, it's developed at a respectable pace (I guess), but it's not what it could be, alas.

That and I guess with that Atlantian collapse happening sooner than in mine, this world isn't as up on people's Matrix (the magical stuff, not that movie) very much at all! Even to this day, most of what we know about that stuff comes solely from stolen Atlantian notes and such. We.... have managed some advancement, but I fear that Zerm would laugh at our feeble knowledge....

....

Nevermind.

Well, our now rather cute dragonet had been incensed at the failure, putting it down as yet another false lead. He'd been coming up stairs to "calm his nerves" with yet another brace of alcoholic drink when he'd met us.

As to why prisoners (who'll we'll have to do something in order to allow them to adjust to a life of demifoxdom....don't want them to go insane due to THAT)....

Dragoness Astra

Looking at the unconscious demifoxes (which the female I FEEL for), I sigh and look back at the sleeping dragonet and then at my love.

I'd understood what the dragonet had said, but...don't know exactly just how to feel about his reasons. On one hand, he's got reason for the hatred, but still on another hand...

So odd, now, that I'm a dragon. Things sure are abit...er....different for me here.

"Meep," Artizza says softly in annoyance, having been left out all this time.

  1. "It's sad in a way," he says softly as he reaches for the Crystallic as he explains what he heard. "You see...."
