On the opposite bank he spotted a human female. She appeared to be washing
clothes. While this was surprising itself, what was more so was the fact
that the young female wasn't white - she appeared to be a dark brown. Now
in his land of Allaria, all the people were white, and there wasn't a
single people coloured differently. He nudged Astra and indicated the
native. She was almost as surprised as him. Almost, due to there being
people with darker skin living in Aqualaria. Just then the native spotted them. Her reaction was even more extreme as she screamed and disappeared into the undergrowth. She didn't have to travel far to her village where she arrived almost out of breath in front of the leader's hut. The leader heard her and came out. "What is it child? What have you seen?" "Spirits, my leader!" pant "A male and female. They were staring at me." "Spirits, Mbala? I do not think so. Show me where you saw these 'spirits'." She feared her leader more than the 'spirits', she meekly did as ordered. A few of the other villagers alerted to the commotion followed suit. Fred and Astra had debated between running away and staying to see if anything happened. The latter option was decided upon, and they were soon find out the result. The native reappeared, this time with three men and a woman. The leader looked over the so- called 'spirits', and chuckled. "They're not spirits, Mbala. They are human like you and me." "But their skin-" "Is not the same as ours, I know," the leader finished. "Last night I was visited by real spirits. The paleskins came from the Land of the Insects. The spirits did not say why, but we are to invite them to our village."
