Violette is Saved

Feeling pity for tonight's feast, Mangoe cut the rope holding Violette up. The animal collector fell to the ground, and then rolled over.

"Now untie me, you pitiful wench," she commanded.

"You're not very nice," said Mangoe, "but I'd better do this so we can get out of here." She untied the ropes binding Miyaki's wrists, and then the adventurer untied the rope around her ankles.

"Much obliged, pet," Violette snarled as she put on her socks and boots, "I'm glad I won't be here when those beasts return."

"Yes, they'll be back soon," said Mangoe, "Will you please get this collar off me?"

Violette scoffed. "What, do I look stupid? There are ravenous tigers coming back with the ingredients needed to roast a woman. If I free you, they'll come looking for me."

Mangoe became desparate. "But I freed you!"

Violette chuckled as she walked away from the clearing. "That wasn't a very good idea now, was it?"

The tigers returned shortly thereafter. They were disappointed that they couldn't make a meal of Miyaki, but they all agreed that their fattened slave was meaty enough to go around.
