The skeleton and its ring [35704] had been forgotten during their
encounter with the energy being who called herself Fiona. The ring had
been lying beside Astra while she had been sleeping, but had been
disturbed when Astra had been picked up by Fiona in her natural form. If there had been an observer, they would quite probably be surprised when the ring disappeared into thin air. Not that it travelled far. Astra felt something on her right index finger. Looking at her hand, she was shocked to find it was the silver ring! "It's...it's that ring! How...how is that possible?" she stammered. She tried to remove it by pulling and twisting, but it appeared to be stuck fast. She sighed, realising she probably shouldn't have said anything about things getting any worse. She need not worry about her's or Fred's life, though. This enchanted ring somehow knew that Astra had removed the ring out of curiousity rather in the capacity of a grave robber. She had to suffer some misfortune due to the very fact she had removed it. The skeleton of its rightful owner lay buried under a cairn not far away. It's owner had not been responsible for the ring's enchantment, him being a simple traveller who had been given the ring as a gift by a kindly Mage he had helped for several months. He had entered into the jungle where Fred and Astra now journeyed through. A day into his travels he was set upon and killed by the very natives who had built the statues, the killing blow delivered by the native whose skeleton Fred and Astra discovered. This native had seen the ring and taken it for himself. That was where the enchantment came in. It had been removed from its rightful owner, so would now cause problems for whoever discovered it until it had been returned. This trouble varied depending on how the current owner got hold of it. Needless- to-say, the trouble caused for the murderous native resulted in his eventual death. Why hadn't the other natives removed it? Instinct had told them that the strange object that their former leader (for it was he that killed the traveller) wore was responsible, so the rest of the tribe wouldn't touch it. So, the ring would have remained buried for all eternity, had the skeleton not been unearthed by the Fiona entity.
