Fred stared around the room horrified. It was filled with nothing but ale,
dust, and cobwebs. How could this be? Just a minute ago, he'd seen the
two men forcing Tarsa into this very room.
"So, geohound, did these people happen to be invisible?" said the commander said sarcastically. Fred was speechless --- until he heard the jingle of one of the guard handcuffs. "Wait!" He pleaded. He examined the room for anything that could help his case, and lady luck struck him. "Look" he yelled. Their, at the end of the room was a small oak door ajar."Well, what're you waiting for?" The commander demanded to his men. Hastily, they scattered out the door, leaving Fred and the commander by themselves. Fred said nothing. Although he wasn't a religious person, he found himself praying silently to Granas to save not only him---but Tarsa as well. He could never forgive himself if something happened to her. "Commander, we've found something!" yelled one of the men outdoors. They walked outside into the vast, sunny courtyard. In the distance, Fred could make out the commander's men surrounding a naked, unmoving body. Fred ceased his breathing, but continued walking. The moment of truth came.
