A Bid for Escape or Perhaps Wealth

Still fighting the last stages of her headache, and not quite sure of her state of mind, Checkers turned to Astra and asked, "Did I really see what I thought I saw?"

Astra confirmed, "Uh, yeah. Things that are hard to believe happen quite a bit here. Fortunately, if we get above ground and out of the Shreken, we do not have to worry about that. I would think that the best way is to follow the trail of blood. We have to be careful. With this sword, I can beat a couple of orcs in a fair fight, but I do not want to take on a pack of them."

"I agree. But you mentioned that there was treasure here, too. While I would certainly like to leave, a little stash of jewels or precious metal would help smooth the way on what may be a long trip back home. Do you have anything in mind?"

Astra replied,

1. "No. I am just taking the most likely path to the surface, and if we find treasure, then so much the better."
2. "Yes. I know of a vault here. It is specially guarded, but I may have some idea of how to weaken the magic that secures it."
