In fact, all McDonalds were once Taco Bells. Only vast supernatural
powers, tied to the manager, maintained them as McDonalds. And it
took the death of the manager (or the death of the district manager) to
convert a store.
Scott learned all this from Wesley Wyndham-Pryce, who happened to be
wandering by. (He had broken into the Staircase Room to steal several
mystical amulents from the Staircase Room Mystical Amulet and Book Binding
Store).
