  1. A magic spell gone right. (Weight loss spells require love, devotion, the stars being right and a crapload of jewels).
  2. A magic spell gone bad. Sure, the weight is gone, but Marlene now turns into a potted plant for an hour each night.
  3. Exercise and clean living.
  4. A life on the run, Marlene is a smuggler and a nun-smacker.
  5. A mental illness. Hopefully Marlene will get help before she dips below her current, healthy weight.
  6. It's been a mystery for ten long years. Marlene doesn't care.
