Astra realised that she felt very thirsty (and hungry too). She had no
idea of what "tea" might be, so she said: "Water, please. I feel pretty
rough, but if I've been out for a week then I suppose that's only to be
expected."
"Yes, it is. You had a nasty fever. Some cuts and bruises, though they were a minor concern in comparison. You seem to have a very strong constitution, so I don't think that you'll suffer any long-term ill effects. Here, drink this. Slowly now." With one arm, Lucy helped Astra to sit up, then handed her the cup. She drank it slowly as she had been told, and the parched feeling in her mouth gradually wore off. "Thank you," she said, as she handed back the cup. Her voice sounded rather more like her own now. "What happened to my hair? I can feel that it's gone." "It was badly burnt, so I had to cut almost all of it off. I think it will probably grow back, but I can't be sure... Do you feel well enough to eat anything?" Astra said that she did, so Lucy left the wagon to get her something. She returned five minutes later with a bowl of stew. As Astra ate, Lucy asked her: "Do you feel well enough to tell me what happened to you? I have to admit to being curious. After all, it's not every day that someone appears seemingly out of nowhere."
