Goblins! Thousands of them, like maggots squirming out of a rotting corpse, emptied from the bowels of the icy mountains and descended toward the lowland valleys, down toward the only place with any shred of civility in this bleak wilderness; Muchice. They were squat, stunted, boney, gangled, warty, bow-legged, and all around misshapen creatures, all bug-eyed and hideous. Their language was vulgar and disgusting. Their habbits were offensive (you know, belching too loudly, not covering their mouths when they sneezed). And their reputation was sinister. They were clever, their weaponry advanced. They bred uncontrollably, infesting the mountains like the parasites they were. They survived by stealing and looting, mostly from humans (even Barbarians) - and on rare occassions, like this one, they would organize into a sizeable army and use force to get what they needed. A snow-white owl was perched upon a craggy ledge which overlooked a great frigid expanse. It was a wise creature, it had learned much by staying put and simply watching. What it saw amused it. Goblins and Barbarians (both bitter enemies of one another) marching off to war! They seemed to be diverging upon the same spot (that being Muchice), but were completely unawares of each other. Apparently neither army took scouting to be of too much import. Was this all a coincidence? The Goblin Warlord surveyed his rowdy troops with his great round bulbous red eyes. His face seemed always to be locked in a snarl, his fangs barred menacingly. His helm was hewn entirely from a human skull, obscene battle scences etched into it. "Filthy maggots!" he shouted out to the bloodthirsty throng of goblins. "You wants man-flesh!?" "HOOOooOOOooOOEEEEee!" went out the cheerful cry of approval from the soldiers, as they showered their general with rocks, stale bread, and a fair amount of their own dung."You wants beer and gold!?" Again, more dung and stale bread showered the Goblin Warlord. The Warlord laughed. "Then go slaughter the innocents while the greedy pigs squabble over filthy fish!" It seemed evil minds seemed to work alike, whether they be human or goblin. Would the fact that two attacking armies hated each other work to the town's advantage? As battle draws nearer, we follow Fred & Astra...
