The Never Ending Quest - Episode 3433

Before Thessamar could go into any details, the small man - presumably the innkeeper - shushed her. "I don't think you are wise to talk so, when they are so close at hand" he said. "You are probably right," she conceded. Frustration was added to Fred's anger, for he had hoped that he might learn something.

Thessamar changed the subject. "I'll say one thing for the silence here. It was a pleasant change to enter an inn without getting a chorus of wolf- whistles. I often have to forcibly show one or two of the men how to treat a lady. And then I usually spend half the evening explaining why I am naked to one person after another."

After a while, the conversation at their table tailed off, and they sat sipping their drinks in silence. Thessamar began to feel that it would take a tremendous effort for her to speak. Eventually:

  1. With an effort, Fred said: "I think we should leave."
  2. The Kar'thul came downstairs and entered the bar.
