So Near and Yet So Far

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 3424

It was a night of bright moonlight, light enough for them to see a dark line of land on the horizon, perhaps ten miles away, and hopefully not just another island like the one they were on. They were frustrated though, for there was a strong wind in their faces. If they could build a raft, with or without a sail, the wind would prevent their making any progress towards the land. Walking round the island not only showed them that its perimeter was only two miles or so, but also that on the downwind side there was no land to be seen.

They built themselves a shelter from the wreckage of the ship, hoping that in the morning the wind would have dropped or its direction would have changed.

  1. The night passes uneventfully.
  2. They hear something outside their shelter.
