Choosing a passage at random, Astra opted for the second one. She and Velus proceeded for about a hundred yards, before the tunnel opened up into a largish chamber. To their astonishment, it contained:

  1. Elephant tusks. Hundreds of them stacked to the ceiling. Astra took one of them. Having a pointed end, it would do as an improvised weapon.
  2. A pool table. (Velus's nose was very sensitive, and he could smell the balls.) The dragon had stolen the table from another reality where (unlike this one) they played pool.
  3. A piano. (Velus's nose was very sensitive, and he could smell the keys.)
