Fred Prays

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 33440

You see, while many folk had forgotten that Fred had previously died and gone to Hell, Fred wasn't one of them - nor, he suspected, was Satan. Although technically Fred had already served his eternal punishment (which was to gain revenge on the King), he realised he had gotten off extremely lightly, and it appeared to him not to be beyond the realms of possibility that Lucifer was devising many more unpleasant punishments for his eventual return.

So it was that Fred had decided that the best way to avoid such a state was to redeem his sinful past and become a Man of God. Fred falls to his knees at the entrance to the caves, closes his eyes and joins his hands in prayer:

"Oh God, you are so huge,
with eyes so blue,
what man could do other
than worship you?"

There is an immediate response, but not of the kind Fred had hoped for. The previously blue skies blacken with clouds, and a howling wind whips up out of nowhere. After a few seconds the heavens open and rain lashes down, while lightning bolts start to strike the ground nearby.

Figuring he hasn't prayed hard enough, Fred presses his hands together ever tighter and continues:

"You control the skies
You're quite a brute
But in your own way
You're rather cute!"

There is a massive rumble of thunder and something tells Fred to move and move fast. He leaps to his feet and dives to the side just as the spot upon which he had been kneeling is hit by a massive bolt of electricity.

"I wonder what I'm doing wrong?" Fred muses.

  1. Fred resumes his prayers - hey, what rhymes with "Deuteronomy"?
  2. God appears and tells Fred his prayers suck. He sends Fred to prayer lessons
  3. God's aim is out. He was targeting a Robin Williams concert a couple of miles away
