The Sky Moves Sideways

"Sarah, I'm Higgins from the Omaha branch of the FBI," he says. "We have a mission for you."

Sarah now feels even more confused than she did a few minutes ago when she became aware that something, quite possibly everything, was somehow off. "A-a mission?" she gulped. "What about the passengers? I'm supposed to be leaving for Wold-Chamberlain in Minneapolis soon!"
"The passengers aren't going anywhere, Sarah," Higgins says gently, but still bluntly. "After the plane is completely refueled, we need you to fly me and my agents east. If you can, you can stop in Honolulu to refuel. We need to get to San Francisco as soon as possible."

Sarah is speechless. Since when is Honolulu and San Francisco east of Omaha, Nebraska?! What in the world is going on here?

1. Higgins continues relaying his instructions to Sarah.
2. Sarah flatly refuses. She demands to know what is going on and why the passengers aren't being allowed to board the plane.
