Paranoia Man in Cheap Shit Room

Don kept a good sense of humor about it, even if he was starting to get a little frustrated with this, as if he was the butt of some grand cosmic joke and he was the only one unaware of it. Plus, they kept mentioning ABC. Don already knew that ABC was an American television network. How could they have a presence down in Australia?

Finally, Don pushed himself away from the radio setup. He had a lot to do this afternoon, and the weather had made a drastic and unexpected change for the better in just a few short hours. The original forecast was a dreary, rainy day where the temperature barely creeps into the fifties. Instead, it was bright, sunny, and much warmer than anyone had planned for.

Just as Don reached the top of the stairs, he was reminded of those pathetic Australian ham radio operators peppering him with the question on whether or not his home state had vanished. At first, he tried to ignore that nagging feeling at the back of his mind. But after an anxious few moments, Don found himself looking out his kitchen and dining room window.

Then, he went to his front door, opened it, stepped out and positioned himself on the porch. Wow, it was hot outside. But Don still saw nothing out of the ordinary. His neighborhood was still there, although it was very quiet. Almost too quiet.

This was enough to make Don start to believe those Aussies were on to something...

Stepping back into the house, Don picked up his remote control and turned on the television. He flipped through a few channels. So far, nothing out of the ordinary.

But then...

1. Don starts finding special news bulletins on most of the local and cable channels. Something was happening to Nebraska. The Australians were right!
2. Don finishes surfing through all of his hundreds of cable channels. Nothing out of the ordinary. Maybe the internet would have something?
