The Neelix Nebula

The Neelix Nebula was the Bermuda Triangle of the galaxy. Ships that entered the Nebula never reappeared. Until now it seemed. Well, that depended on whether Josh was telling the truth or not.

"It was because of the captain of our freighter." Josh told me. "We were told about the dangers of the Nebula, but he said it was mere superstition. It would cut off a few days from our journey which meant we would arrive earlier than scheduled. By doing so, we - or rather he - would get a bonus. Not a large one, but the captain was greedy." He said this last part with distain.

"And what happened to your captain?" I asked, still uneasy about something but not sure what.

"Dead." Josh spat out the word. "He was the first. The ranking system even affected when we ate. We," indicating the group, "were the lowest of the low. So we avoided their fate."

"Ok, so if I've got this right, you were travelling through the Nebula when you were attacked by these 'big green blobs' as you call them." Josh nodded. "And they somehow infected your food systems with this virus which killed the rest of the crew. That still doesn't explain how there were fourteen of you in a four man lifeboat."

1. I listened as Josh explained the rest of the events up to my discovery of them. I still couldn't decide whether it was true or not.
